I have a friend who just moved here from Australia. He really dislikes Dole pineapple juice (called Annanas juice in Australia) from the dairy case and the canned tastes like tin.

We found some Hawaiian pineaple juice at Trader Joe's but it is not sweet so its not good for drinks unless you add sugar or another sweetner.

Does anyone know of a good source for fresh/frozen pineapple juice that is sweet enough to drink without adding a sweetner? and isn't from concentrate.

    Thanks
    Regina

You could give Goya's pineapple juice a shot. It's usually canned, though, so you'll probably have the same problems.

    Good luck.

Stanley's and Costco both have been carrying nice large sweet pineapples for $2.99 a pop, so if you have a juicer, you may want to create your own.

A really good brand for tropical fruit juices is Zain. I recall having seen their pineapple, but don't remember if I tasted it. Their mango and guava are excellent.

Thanks for the ideas. I looked at Caputos in elmwood park where they have several brands of juice in every flavor but pineapple.

I am not familiar with Zains who carries this brand.

I'm a little surprised that Caputo's didn't have any pineapple juice.
I've seen Zain brand juices (including pineapple) at Petes (4700 location; others probably have it also). Last week at North water market on Devon I noticed not only Zain but several other brands (most S. American origin) of pineapple juice (and pulp).

I recently picked up some Zain juices at Pete's. They were on 'special' at $1.50. The mango and guava were good - and as I remembered. I did pick up a pineapple juice as well. The label says 100% juice and not from concentrate, though it does have added vitamin C.
The expiry date on it was Aug. 05. Visually, the juice wasn't pineapply yellow, but rather a dirty yellow. It did taste like it may have been fresh pineapple juice that had been sitting out for a while. Not soured and funky, just sort of muted and oxidized. It did taste better than it looked though and we finished the packet, but I didn't waste any Malibu on it. I'm not sure if this is how the Zain pineapple juice is normally, I doubt it; I'll look for something further away from expiration next time.

reg00, if you got Zain pineapple juice, I hope it was better than the one I picked up. As you were on the quest for good pineapple juice, please let me know what you did get - I could really use some in a tall frosty glass with Malibu right about now.
