Where did you find the peanuts?

The beer is my own twist (well, I'm sure lots of folks have done it before me but I didn't pick that up in SC. The peanuts came from Argyle (a while ago) and I can't remember where--Tai Nam or Broadway Grocery I think.

Okay. Hope to search both out and report back.

    Thanks.

Thought I'd add that the pressure cooker is an excellent way to cook peanuts. My mother cooked them this way and they were done in about 30-40 minutes.

Indian stores are also a good source for boiled peanuts.

I read on another thread that someone smoked (dry) peanuts. I'm thinking a boiled peanut would be ideal to smoke.

...from Florida and, as mentioned now and again over the years, boiling goobers in cheap beer with some chile is not uncommon.

I talked with my father yesterday and we started talking about the year he grew peanuts. The first thing he talked about was that they were the first thing that the rabbits went after. He did note that even when the rabbits ate the foliage, the peanuts continued to grow. He said that growing peanuts was like growing soybeans ... great as a field crop but not in a garden.

I've bought them from Trader Joe's occasonally. I liked them a lot. But like everything
from Trader Joe's each location has different stock and the only one near Chicago that
I've found that has them consistanty is Lake Zurich.

Grabbed green peanuts 2 weeks ago at Valli's in Arlington Heights.

Now the love can go on forever because I've been successfully canning them.

This is one seasonal food I will be reaching for year round.
