I just got back from Fannie May. I got my son and his girlfriend chocolate bunnies even though they are in their twenties... tradition dies hard. They did have a fruit and nut egg. Also trinidad eggs but I got the last one.
Some years ago after Fannie May disappeared (why or why did they) they suddenly came back. I ran to the "new" FM and was very disappointed in the candy. It did not taste the same and it looked like it was made by amateurs. Lately though, I have been liking it.
I bought four pixies, my favorite and several caramarsh. I enjoyed the pixie fix on the way home. I think they are smaller than I remember them but still delicious.
Don't be so sure that Fannie May is bad candy. I think they are a good bit better than most you will get. Godiva bunnies last year were not a taste hit. I certainly would not give ferrara pan candy for easter but thats just me. Nothing against it. But for me easter candy is all about chocolate rabbits, foil covered eggs and bunnies, jelly beans, and cartons of marshmallow eggs and rabbits (frankly the cheap ones on those). I am heading out to get some of the cheap marshmallow eggs at the drugstore. I think I will skip the peeps.
Is Fannie May the same as it was? Probably not. But it is good and not something to be ashamed to put in an easter basket.
