You can also get Amazon Prime with a free "mom" membership. And its terms & conditions are pretty permissive:

Despite the name, you don't need to be a mom to join. Amazon Mom is open to anyone expecting a baby or caring for a baby or young child, whether you're a mom, dad, grandparent, or caretaker. We just thought "Amazon Primary Caretaker" didn’t have the same ring to it.

They give membership extensions when you make qualified purchases. If you have a young relative, you'll find that many gifts qualify for membership extensions, as do some odd things. Last I remember, I got an extension for buying dishtowels. Go figure. But I've since upgraded to paid Amazon Prime. One free Kindle book a month + streaming movies & TV shows tipped the scales.

20 Mule Team Borax sighted at Potash Bros Market, 875 N. State St.

(This is kind of a good neighborhood grocery store - carries Daisy Cutter, Sriracha, Labriola etc. - has it been mentioned/discussed here at all?)

I never thought of Borax as hard-to-find. It's usually in the Jewel on Green Bay (Wilmette?) and I know it was there this past weekend for certain, although that seems a mite far for a Hyde Parker to shlep, even for Borax.

Happily, Borax has reappeared in Hyde Park and our whites are whiter for it. But the salient point for me wasn't the absence of Borax so much as the stockperson being so immobilized by fear that he simply refused to go back to the manager to clarify the question. That amused me.

Amused? Saddened, maybe. Disappointed. Upset. Dismayed. Angered, even. But amused? For shame, sir!

I found it at the Target on Elston last weekend, with the laundry soap and cleaning things.

Tahr-jahy in Plattsburgh NY has it, I saw it this afternoon. Might could be that Target carries it most everywhere.

Boraxo (and any other borax/soap equivalent) is by far the finest heavy-duty hand soap I've ever used. I've visited hundreds of manufacturing plants, factories, mills, labs and so forth and used any number of industrial hand soaps in their washrooms. Boraxo-type gets the heavy grime off better than anyone else, no doubt. Your hands feel clean, exfoliated and not ravaged by solvents. Bonus points for a foot operated circular sink and a four-way dispenser. Available at hardware stores.
