I went to Ultra grocery store today in the market for some bread. When I was there I noticed several breads that seemingly have filled the Hostess Wonder bread void. Aunt Millies, Koepplingers, and Such Crust. I also noted Martin's Potato bread at Dominicks as well and that was also a new brand to me so I bought a loaf. I find that one cottony soft and not good for much except using up in french toast. I did not buy any because I usually do not buy that type of bread, favoring Turano bread or some rye. There is really nothing odd about the breads except for it seems most are produced in Indiana. It appears Ft Wayne is the site of much bakery activity because at least two of them are produced there. I am wondering if anyone has tried these brands of breads and could post on them as once and a while I will buy a loaf of this type of bread for a change.

PS It looks like some of these are only Headquartered in Indiana and have bakeries in other states too.

Hi- I bought the martin's potato bread a while back at Dominick's when it was on sale, and it was okay. I usually only buy whatever high fiber bread is on sale. For a while I was buying Essential Everyday 100% whole wheat bread at Jewel, because they usually had it on sale, and I could often find checkout coupons for it. The bread was not bad either. Unfortunately, the bread was made by Hostess, and it is no longer available. Thanks, Nancy

I will buy the koepplinger's loaf once in a very long while. No HCFS iirc, and for whatever reason that's what we choose (mine is not to ask why for some things.) The Whole Foods in Hinsdale also sells the Koepplinger's product in case anyone thinks they shouldn't buy it because someone isn't selling it for a premium price. I don't recall how much it was at WF, but I do recall it was much more than Ultra's price.
