No idea what the "E" stands for.
The big mass market brands blend oils aiming for a consistent flavor at the lowest cost (to them), so I doubt the absence of Italian oil makes any difference to the taste.

I thought of that, but why then are they using English names for the other countries and not for example "H" for Greece? Maybe it's some sort of EU labeling rule.
