(maybe wrong thread - but it's a local Chicago "food" business, so this is where I'm putting it - move accordingly mods)
We catered/planned/served a wedding this past weekend at
Kitchen Chicago, the space we started cooking/catering out of about 5 years ago. This serendipitous occasion provided some nostalgia, a super easy over-staffed (thanks Mrs. Rub for the financially irresponsible, but nerve easing, 5-to-1 staffing) catering gig, and a discovery of something I think is quite genius.
A gentleman was using the other kitchen space, making something that smelled of delicious coffee/cocoa in the hobart mixer. When asked what smelled so good, he told me of this genius new product simply called
GO! Coffee Energy]. He paddles together locally sourced honey with high-quality coffee grounds to make a paste that looks like chewing tobacco. You simply eat some of it, and get all hopped up on caffeine. As a chef/restaurant owner, we admittedly ABUSE (with no regard) caffeine to get through our long days. Coffee, red bull, monster, you name it...this new product allows you to consume copious amounts of caffeine without the carbonation or awful flavor of energy drinks. I think this is a great idea, and I'm excited to see where it goes. He only sells online right now, but with the right marketing/connections - this could really take off.
I can't believe no one has thought of this before - a little tin can that costs about $6 contains the same amount of caffeine as 10-14 cups of coffee, or 6-8 red bulls. I already ordered a few tins for my kitchen crew, the place will be cleaner than ever!!
