Are you an accomplished amateur chef wanting to try your hand at teaching cooking classes? A home cook with some wonderful family recipes you’d like to share? Or maybe a professional looking to get some feedback on new dishes?

We have a place for you to give it a go!

Peterson Garden Project is a not-for-profit organization, founded by LaManda Joy in 2010, focused on inspiring everyone to grow their own food through community gardening. The organization continues to expand its mission by helping Chicagoans move from the Plot to the Plate!!

PGP recently opened the state of the art “Fearless Food Kitchen” at the Broadway Armory (5917 N Broadway St, Chicago, IL 60660) and we are looking for instructors for our "Taste Test" series. We need cooks, both amateurs and professional, who want to volunteer to teach a class on a particular topic near and dear to them.

Taste Test classes are 1-2 hour sessions, held on Tuesday nights from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and can be either a hands-on or demonstration format. PGP covers the cost of the ingredients (budget based on number of participants who sign up and reimbursed to the instructor at the event) and provides volunteers to help with anything you need for the class (prep, assisting during the class and clean up).

We are starting with 8 sessions beginning on January 6th and continuing through February, 2015. Additional classes will be scheduled for the next group (March, April and May), sometime towards the end of January. So if you have an idea for a delicious topic, please let us know! Simply email Jennifer Berman at jberman1130@yahoo.com with a description of your topic, your schedule preference (dates will be assigned on a first come-first served basis so you may need to consider additional dates), whether the class will be hands on or demo and any questions you have regarding equipment needs or other logistics.

And don’t forget to sign up for PGP’s emails to get the monthly calendar of classes in case you're interested in attending! http://salsa.petersongarden.org/p/salsa/web/common/public/signup?signup_page_KEY=6504

We hope LTH will come out and be part of the PGP community of explorers of fresh, creative and tasty food!

Bumping this thread--we are trying to get a calendar set for January and February--this is a really good organization and I think that this is a perfect way for LTHers to share some of the great things that you do!!!! Just let me know if you are interested in taking a night--as a reminder, they are Tuesdays at 7:00 for an hour or two--you can do demo or hands on.

    thanks!!!!!

    Jennifer

Only a few dates left--but we would love to fill them with a few more LTHers! So far the response has been fantastic--we've booked all of January and February, as well as a couple of dates in March--just 3 more to fill--March 10, 24 and 31.

So if you want to have some fun sharing your favorite recipes, pick a topic and join your fellow LTHers who are leading programs on topics that range the gamut from German Potato Pancakes to Korean Hangover Soup to Marmalade to Devil Crab to Bigos to Mac & Cheese!

PM me for details. Looking forward to seeing you in the kitchen!!
