As soon as I saw the recall on the news I went to their website and realized that we have a can of Wondra whose date is in the recall. I emailed them twice on 6-2 and 6-5 and have yet to get a reply. I read on their blog that people calling the 800 number were waiting hours to get through if they even did get through. I guess General Mills is not quite as concerned about the consumer as they profess to be!

Why not just take the can to the store (any store) and get a replacement?

Nowhere online does it tell you where to take it and I bought it online anyway. In my email I asked them if the Ecolli was caused by people eating it raw as was intoned and wanted confirmation that if cooked, baked or fried to temp. that it would be safe to use.
Again this corporation shows it is among those who claim the customer comes first when in reality they don't. That's why corporate America sucks, maybe you like being treated like crap, I don't.

It doesn't matter where you bought it. You don't need a receipt. Just take the can anywhere that sells Wondra and they'll give you a brand new can. Problem solved. It sounds like you're getting bogged down in the details. Sure it would have been better if they responded to your email, but ultimately why worry about it when a satisfactory solution is so easy to achieve.

BTW, this is a voluntary recall. No ecolli has been found in any flour, so to say they don't care might be a bit of an overreach. Overwhelmed, understaffed and incompetent might be more accurate.

    e. Coli. Not "ecolli." The latter sounds like a pasta.

Who cares how you spell it, everyone knows what it is! And my point is (was) that big corporations act like they care but really don't give a f#&*k about you.

    Brushman4,

You've now told us three times how corporate America Su***, doesn't give a cr** about us and treats us like sh**!

I do all of the food purchasing for a small, 425 member Private Club in The Gold Coast area, doing about 1M annually in food sales, over a 10 month season. We buy a 50 lb. case of A.P. flour about every other week, but go through one case a week during our peak months. I also order high gluten bread flour and cake flours for our Pastry Chef. I buy most of these from Sysco, but fill in the gaps from Testa Produce. I've received numerous phone calls from both companies, not just from our Sales Rep's, but from further up the respective chains of command, to make certain that we do not have any of the contaminated product in house.

FYI, I'm pretty impressed how quickly both of these purveyors were all over this situation.

I care because I want to know what we are talking about. There are lots of things that look the same yet only a few letters make a big difference.

    Sorry but spelling counts.

Oh! so let me get this straight, you stated your purveyors were all over this not General Mills. I guess a person buying a product for his family doesn't count as much as a food club. This is exactly the point i was trying to make about corporate America.

    HI,

For those who particpated or watched, a series of posts were removed because it was getting a little too down and dirty.

Cool off, please, and return to this topic another time.

It seems to me that being allowed to return the recalled product to any retail store that carries it for an exchange is the easiest possible remedy for the consumer. What prospective alternative would be easier or involve fewer steps?
