Don't recall seeing this here but just read an article about two women in Pilsen combining their Mexican heritage with traditionally Jewish pastries:

As a follow up I ordered a few babkas and some challahs from here. Simply top-notch. Prices seem a little high but absolutely worth it. These women know what they're doing.

    Yes yes yes.
This is one of the great joys of this forum. I never would have known of this treasure.
Made the trek down today, and my my.
I was skeptical, but I take such few risks, it was worth a shot.
Superb is the correct adjective. My challah was warm, and truly gets better and better with every 1/2 hour it cools. This is the challah one would dream of making at home, if only one knew the secret. Light, eggy, tasty, perfect crust and texture - among the best I ever had.
I picked up a box of mini cinnamon churro babka, and WOW!
One can rarely eat a dessert that gets better with each successive bite - well that is what this experience was like. Sublime would be appropriate. A must-have / Well done Masa Madre!

Babka ladies are expanding (their business-my waistline). Some new items for Rosh Hashonah (apple babka with caramel and challah with figs) and they are now distributing out of Goddess & Baker on LaSalle/Wacker (pre-orders only). Also at Wicker Park Farmer's Market this Sunday. Just an FYI. Still the best challah in town.
