Turkish deli/grocery --Hicksville LI NY

In deepest central LI for TODG's Uncle Fred's 90th, saw a new shoppe in the strip mall on NE corner of Old Country Rd x Newbridge Rd: Istanbul Food. It's a really nicely appointed, laid-out and managed Turkish food store cum deli. There's not a foodstock group not represented, with good quality and quite decent prices. Bought tea, spices, rice, some canned sauces, olive oil, and, natch! some Turkish Delight (there were some 7 different choices).

Hit Fairway and Patel Bros on the way back to Canada: wonderful as Montreal is, some foodgroups are not as well-represented as one might hope!

Although I can't vouch for the places on this list, it might come in handy the next time you find yourself in Long Island.

Just FYI - there's a fairly well-regarded Azerbaijani restaurant on Old Country Road (called, not surprisingly, Azer Baijan - 1610 Old Country Rd., Westbury).
