The Ronco knives thread seems to have gotten corrupted, a first-ever occurrence here. We have pulled it to isolate the contagion and figure out what the hell. If the patient can be saved, it will return.

This is the same thread-fixing you've seen for much more elsewhere. How much do you think you'd pay to have the thread fixed at a department store? $500? $400? Or maybe you think you could save some money and get it through an online retailer for cheaper, say $300. Well have we got an offer for you. All this thread-fixing for $200? Not even close. $150? Try again. $100? Would you believe it if I said still too high? Okay then, $75, you can't go lower than $75, right? Not only is the answer "Yes we can," but yes we will. If you call in the next hour, not only will we fix this thread for the low, low price of $49.95, but we will throw in the steak knives as well. And if you call in the next fifteen minutes, you get the slicer-dicer-potato ricer as well for no additional cost. A $575 value for the low price of $49.95, in four easy payments of $12.49.

    Baahahahaha. Ya'll are nutty.

I think I might've been the last to post on the thread and discovered the problem...I hope I didn't put anything in the post that would cause the problem. I'm still kinda amateur when it comes to linking, and I tried to include a link to the Calphalon Culinary Center's knife skills class description and schedule for Geo.

    Well, Hell.

Geo, if you read this thread, the answer is: yes, knife skills classes are kick-ass, and the Calphalon Culinary Center has one every month, I believe. I would put a link to it here, but I have a feeling that might screw things up again. I took a class at Peter Kump's/aka ICE in NYC, and it made all the difference in how I cook at home. I'm sure any of the other culinary schools with recreational programs (CHIC? Kendall? CAI?) have knife skills classes, too.

Could someone post that link to the Ron Popeil profile again?

If you're ever in the mood for some first-rate stupidity, I highly reccomend the "infomercial drinking game". Basically, you drink whenever the product name is mentioned, whenever the "theme" of the product is mentioned (food, exercise, etc.) and when the infomercial host uses any superlative descriptors to describe the product (awesome, amazing, etc).

Works well with any Ronco infomercials and works frighteningly well with the Chuck Norris exercise equipment infomercial, once again proving The Chuck's prowess.

I took the one at Kendall and enjoyed it much. They also let us buy knives and cutting boards at their "book" store!

Jeez, was it something I said?? I didn't meant it, really I didn't...

First this and now Bill/SFNM is going to put us all into Risen-goods Withdrawal for awhile... woe is us.

But tnx crrush and leek for the info. I'd *really* like to take one of those classes. I'll have to take a look around Montreal and see if there is such a deal offerred here. I'm pretty sure we don't have anything like that in KC. : (

    crrush--

Tnx so much for the heads-up! I'd forgotten about those folks and what they did. I'm going to be around at that time, so I've very seriously thinking about taking that class. More anon...

    Much appreciated.

    crrush,

Not sure if it was the problem here, but the link to the Calphalon site included in another email (I think it was Chicago Magazine) caused problems on my home computer, kept downloading images.

I have yet to take a class at Calphalon, although I have thought about it often enough.
