    Hi all,
So in an effort to save money in preparation for a big trip to las vegas My husband and I are have not been eating out at all. Not a big deal cause if I do say so myself I am a fabulous cook.

Lately though I have been craving Pad thai and eggrolls. I'ver never made thai at home or chinese at home either.. So I'm looking for some fabulous recipies for Pad thai and egg rolls for me to make at home... I looked in the recipe index at the eggroll recipe but I'm not a big fan of the peanut butter... I like my pad thai sweet and not too spicy (my hubby's a wimp).

Oh also I'm heading over to Argyle & Broadway... Any suggestions for a quality shop for a wok and ingredients? Price is always a consideration! Thanks in advance... Hope you are having a lovely Saturday... Oh and I promise to take pictures and post my results....

    Hi,

A friend of mine is known in our town for the homemade egg rolls she brings to parties and school events. She purchases her egg roll wrappers at Viet Hoa on Argyle St or other Asian shops available in the freezer section in a blue and white package. Her secret recipe comes from the rear of the package. If it is just you and your husband, then please note quite a few are made in one batch of filling. If it is just family, then my friend will keep the filling in the refrigerator to fill and wrap egg rolls over several days. These egg rolls have fresh bean sprouts in them, which means they cannot be frozen and cooked later. She does not serve them with sweet or mustard sauce. She eats them with a sprinkle of vinegar with garlic seeping inside, while I eat them as-is.

As an aside: A few years ago she provided her recipe to a community cookbook. Her son's were quite upset the family recipe was available to everyone.

If you want Americanized Chinese egg rolls, then you will want to consult this recipe.

    Regards,
    Cathy2
