I'm doing a pair of ginger-garlic glazed pork tenderloins and roadside chicken legs. Both are going on the Weber kettle, the pork semi-indirect and the legs direct.

My SO got a bucket of wings from Whole Foods which should probably be put in the "Worst Things You've Eaten Lately" thread.

If you're still thinking of what to make for tomorrow's Super Bowl, perhaps you would like to look to Julian Edelman of the Patriots for some inspiration. It's Burgertyme. (Burger talk begins around 3:00)

Ribs. Very thick, meaty baby backs were on sale at Mariano's yesterday for $3.50/lb. Using Alton Brown's "Who Loves Ya, Baby Back?" oven roasting recipe. The way the wind and snow are swirling around the back yard, we can't even see the grill, much less use it. And I'm out of aluminum foil. But I have a big roasting pan and am improvising. Last hour will be on an oven rack.

Could make wings too, but both of the girls work at Buffalo Wild Wings, so they'll probably bring some home. Personally, I don't thnk BWW wings travel well, but in this weather I won't snub anyone who brings me hot food in assorted flavors. Apparently BWW does as big a business in carry-out orders in the several hours prior to kickoff as it does in house on Super Bowl Sunday.

We had our Super Bowl snacks for lunch (not really interested in the game when I'm not doing the whole party thing). SO requested "healthful" junk food so I made a Buffalo Chicken "pizza"--homemade buffalo sauce (buttermilk, Louisiana hot sauce, garlic and onion) cooked with chicken thighs, covering a flour burrito sized tortilla with chopped onion and celery leaves topped with a mix of blue and Gruyere cheese (sparingly applied to keep with the healthful theme); celery sticks with homemade blue cheese dressing (yogurt, buttermilk, blue cheese and lime juice); and baked tortilla nachos with ground turkey, very lite cheese, onion, homemade salsa, greek yogurt and chopped cilantro.

    Good eats!

boudreaulicious - that looks awesome. I just got really hungry! (But healthful?) :)

We are having chili. Nothing too fancy. Beef chuck, three types of chile peppers, cumin, coriander, beer (in the chili), a little chocolate, jalepenos, tomatoes, onion, and garlic. It's actually a test run for a "major" chili competition coming up in March (me vs the brothers in laws).

It really was! Tortilla subbing for heavier/oilier crust, very lite cheese (less than 2 T on the whole thing) two skinless thighs, buttermilk in place of oil/butter in sauce. We also didnt eat the whole thing, of course. Likely rest will be snacks during the actual game :P

We will watch at least the beginning of the game, but not particularly interested. Gumbo seemed like a perfect meal for this horrible day. Also gave me a chance to warm up for the Mardi Gras party in 2 weeks.

Scoff if you will, but last night, we went to Mariano's to grab some bbq for a get together with friends. They were slingin smoked spare slabs with tip attached for 10 bucks per!
Ribs and brisket day 2. (And their brisket has hit a stride, imo. That stuff is good.)

I have been seeing this style of a sandwich pop up here and there and yesterday we decided to give it a try...

    BF26E2EA-9E36-4D45-BCF3-66A8B65EB0D3.jpeg

Starting with a half pound Pub Burger (pan fried to a perfect medium rare) on sale at Jewel then using 2 grilled cheese sandwiches as buns.

Of course we had to gild the lily by topping it with grilled onions and Merkts Sharp Cheddar.

Even though we had a big Lithuanian late lunch...

... I managed to polish this off just after halftime.

Even the bits of ‘bun’ leftover were very savory. Thinking about what sauce could be applied next time...
