Well, my little guy just turned 1 three weeks ago, so he's not quite ready to help me in the kitchen just yet
He does like to eat what mommy and daddy eat though, to the point that he will sometimes refuse to eat if he isn't getting what we're eating. I ended up buying a copy of Start Fresh by Tyler Florence, and it's been great. All sorts of recipes starting from purees for a baby to meals that everyone can eat (with usually no more than a bit of mashing required to make things friendlier for Rohan). Pretty much everything I've tried so far has been a hit with both parents and toddler, and there's still quite a bit I'm looking forward to making (I think minestrone and homemade fish sticks will be tested on different nights this week). The only recipe so far that I've had to modify has been the braised beef with root vegetables - the recipe calls for 3 cups of beef stock and 1 cup of apple juice, but the apple juice really made things sweeter than my wife and I would have liked. I'd guess that's to make it more palatable to kiddos, but I've since made it again with no juice and everything still gets gobbled down quickly.
The recipe for mac and cheese that substitutes butternut squash puree for most of the cheese turned out to be surprisingly good, and presumably quite a bit healthier than a real mac and cheese would be.
