Well, I've gone and done it: broken my next to the last Blue Carp soup bowl. Time to replenish my supply. Unfortunately, Sur la Table no longer carries the line, and the only place revealed by google is in the UK. Any ideas? I've looked in the largest local Asian stores: no carps at all, and only melmec tableware, not porcelin/stoneware.

    TIA!

Pearl River Market, a huge Asian 'department store' in NYC, might have what you're looking for. I searched their web site (www.pearlriver.com) to no avail, but I'm pretty sure I got my bowls there a few years ago. It might be worth a call to the actual store to see if they carry the carp bowls.

You might also try Richwell market on Canal, or any of the Chinatown (not Argyle) Asian stores. They seem to carry a wider variety of the ceramic dinnerware, along with the usual melamine.

Oh...wait. You're not in CHI, are you? I live right by Richwell, etc., so I'll pop in some time in the next week to see if I can find any, if you're still interested. How many are you looking for?

Have you tried Ebay? A search for 'blue carp bowl' yields 10 results, but I am not sure if they are exactly what you are looking for.

    lowjones--

Bingo! Tnx sooo much--I broke my next to the last bowl day-before-yesterday and was in mourning. I'll get an order out immediately.

I knew LTHers would come through!

Glad I could help. If you haven't placed your order try the bee and flower sandalwood soap. It is real nice.

I've sent my order in already, but tnx anyway. I know the soap from The Olde Countrie--we could always buy it in the Friendship Stores. Nice stuff.
