Whole brisket at Josephs Crystal Lake

For anyone that wants to smoke a brisket they were selling whole ones for $2.00 a pound. They were about $20 a piece...

I have seen those on occasion - but they are only about 10# each.

The ones I see inm Cryovac in HEB throughout Texas are much closer to 20# and are usually priced at $0.89/lb. I am not sure what the difference. Guess that I will have to do some research.

I cannot get too excited by most of the fresh meat at Joseph's ... it is not one of their strong points.

i seen 'packer cuts' at woodman's in kenosha today, for the first time, going for 1.89/lb...

also at peoria packing, last week, in the 2.00/lb range.

i've noticed that the costco in mt prospect also carrys them... price unchecked.

Bought a 11.5 lb packer brisket at Wally World in Hobart, Ind. last Wednesday for $1.69 a pound. No grade on it but I'm betting it was an Excel select grade.

According to the NAMP Meat Buyers Guide, the weight ranges for Brisket, Deckel-Off, Boneless are 6-8 lbs, 8-10, 10-12, and 12-up. My guess is that the HEB stores spec out a very heavy brisket for their beef loving customers.

I lived in Dallas for many years, and remember seeing whole beef briskets often at my neighborhood grocery store at around the same price that you mention.
