Anybody know a good place to find fig jam or fig preserves? I looked at Whole Foods and Caputo's a few months back, and couldn't find it in either of those places.

Treasure Island, specifically the Clybourn location has a really nice selection of domestic and imported jams, including a few nice varieties of fig jams. I've tried a couple of the French green fig jams and a California calimyrna fig jam as well.

Members of the seebee family (not seebee himself) have an addiction to the fig preserves from the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain in their store section. These members of the seebee family claim to have grown up with fig preserves and claim the cracker barrel version is very good. Not sure if you're looking for "fancy-schmancy" or "down - home." CB fig preserves might be an option to try for "down-home."

Try the Middle-Eastern places on Kedzie. I got some really good (green) fig preserves there a year ago. Possibly Cleopatra, probably Al Khaymeh.

Fox & Obel's jam/jelly/preserves selection is pretty darn stellar.

It ain't cheap either either. BUT...i picked up several jars of yummy things to mix into greek yogurt -- and I almost picked up a fig jam option but instead went for Sour Cherry, which is really really tasty on popovers.

I'll add my usual recommendation for Lincolnwood Produce for all manners of foreign condiments, fig jam included.

I saw fig jam in the fancy-pants food section in Dominick's yesterday.

Any specialty cheese shop should carry it. I know I've seen it at the Cheese Stands Alone and Bouffe.

I found fig jam at Caputo's in Naperville around New Year's Eve. It was in the middle eastern section, I'm thinking.

Everyone offered pretty good suggestions so I don't have much to add, but I had to make some comment since fig is in my name. I have seen fig preserves/jam at Fox & Obel, Whole Foods, Treasure Island and, even, the hispanic grocery store in Pilsen.

We've also made some of our own from both dried and fresh figs (during that albeit short season).

    Good Luck,
