Inspired by G Wiv's photos in
another thread of a delectable looking lobster boil, my husband and I decided to celebrate my birthday and Summer with a lobster bake in the backyard. Using our charcoal grill and some guidance from a
Food Network recipe that we happened to fish up on the web, we prepared a tasty feast that we intend to revisit on future, lobster-worthy special occasions. Here are a few photos to share some details of the preparation.
We lined a big pan with some seaweed on which we placed the lobsters:
Next, the crustaceans were covered with fresh corn, potatoes, and clams:
More seaweed was added, as well as a little white wine:
We "baked" the pan covered in water-soaked burlap for almost an hour, occasionally moistening the cloth with water:
The moment of truth came when we peeled back the burlap an hour later:
Fortunately all was well, and we enjoyed a couple of these platters:
I know there are some lovers of the grill in this group. If you decide to try a version of this lobster bake, I would recommend adding some fresh herbs before baking - maybe some rosemary - and serving the lobster with drawn butter. It's a fun meal to prepare and a delicious one to enjoy.
