    Hi,

I recieved this cookbook for Christmas, and was initially very excited as this comes from one of my very favorite restaurants in NYC.

Reading through in those lazy days after the holiday, I planned out what I'd make once I got home.

I've made 3 things so far, and they've all been disappointing. :(

-bucatini with anchovy, sweet and hot peppers, lemon and toasted bread crumbs was just...ehhhh. Not nearly as tasty and the headline insinuates.

-skillet of roast chicken with fried tomato sauce and polenta - basically a butterflied chicken sitting on top of tomato sauce and polenta. Quite boring.

-fall squash agnolotti - homemade ravioli filled w/ roasted squash and topped with roasted brussels sprouts and brown butter, etc. This was not worth all the work (even with using wonton wrappers). Also it turned into a big glob when I transferred the ravioli from the simmering water to the pan of butter. Grrr.

Any ideas or similar experiences? like I said I was really disappointed b/c our meals AT the restaurant were fantastic.
