Where do you buy good lentils?

I am looking for French green lentils de Puy. Anyone know where I can find them? I tried the Whole Foods on Halsted to no avail. I've just started cooking with these and love them, but can't find more (the first ones were a gift).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

I've gotten them at Fox & Obel.

I just called Fox and Obel and they won't be getting them in for "quite a few weeks." So sad. Any other suggestions for a place I can get them this weekend? Again, thanks.

Treasure Island almost always has them. They carry every lentil known to Mankind, from what I can tell.

Glenview Whole Foods should have them...
Sadly the WF on route 14 stopped carrying them

I could swear I saw de Puys last weekend, loitering in the bulk bins at the Wild Oats on Chicago Avenue in Evanston.

whole foods (for sure the stores on huron and north ave) carries organic french green lentils (du puy - a bit longer cook & hold their shape) in the bulk section.

It may be a good idea to call ahead and ask the bulk department - i know they were recently out of red lentils.

Even though I don't particularly like the store, I've seen and purchased these fine lentils at Sam's Wines in Highland Park.

Williams-Sonoma has them too - $7 for 500 grams. I picked up flageolets at the Highland Park store weekend - $9 per pound. If only someone would get Tarbais beans in locally!

French green lentils were spotted and purchased in the bulk section at the Whole Foods on Ashland this weekend. Now, are "French green lentils" "lentils de Puy?" I don't know, but they looked the same and tasted great in my French lentil soup I cooked up on this past cold weekend.

I read that "real" lentils de Puy have an AOC stamp on them the way the Italians put the DOC on their products. There was no AOC indication at the WF, but I went with it anyway.

sundevilpeg suggested Treasure Island. I can confirm a sighting at the Wilmette store about a week ago-- in the back near the olives.
