Alright, so long story short i'm putting on a BBQ at my place today. I found out i was doing this yesterday

So, i've got everything in line except for my BBQ sauce. I just didn't have the time or resources to get it done in time.

I have generally found that i don't like store bought sauce, but it looks like i'm gonna have to pick some up today.

So, my question to you guys is: What store bought sauce do you buy and how do you doctor it up?

I'm doing spare ribs and hot links over hickory wood. I'm looking to doctor something up - not too thick, not too sweet and it should work.

    Thanks for any input guys

    A couple of quick links

Or, you could check the LTH Recipe Index

Are you looking for a particular style of sauce? Many of the sweet ones start with a base of ketchup and brown sugar and go from there...here's a MasterCook recipe. The vinegar sauces look dead-easy as well; you might be better off going from scratch than modifying a bottled sauce. There are a lot of recipes, most seem to be from Master Cook, here.

If it were just me and nobody spice-averse, I'd probably combine Sweet Baby Ray's with siracha until I liked it.

Head for the south side and pick up a gallon from Lem's. A distinctive taste, not thick and not sweet.

Sweet Baby Ray's Spicy, mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with apple cider vinegar. If serving with pork, I'll often add some cloves or allspice to it to get a bit of that Lem's kick in it.
