I need some advise on food shopping in the area of South Andersonville near Winnemac and Glenwood which is basically near Foster and Clark, west of Broadway. I know there are some Jewel and Dominicks stores around there, I've already web seached them. Any advice on the best grocery shopping, best prices, and nicest stores to shop? Also which are connected easily to public transportation?

Are there any grocery stores even somewhat nearby that are directly accessible to the Redline? Like the Dominicks Fresh store on Fullerton??? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Better than Jewel or Dominicks is Edgewater Produce, right across the street from Jewel about a half mile north of you, at Clark and Catalpa. It is a tiny little store, but their produce is quite good and their prices are much better than Jewel, in my experience. I do still have to cross the street to Jewel for some things, though. Those are both easy walking distance or a short ride on the 22, depending on how much you have to carry home.

I'd avoid the Dominicks at Sheridan and Foster, I find it tends to be greatly lacking in stock, and it is pretty small, as well. The two Jewel stores near there, one at the Berwyn red line stop and the other across the street from Edgewater Produce, are both fine for staples.

There are a lot of smaller stores up and down Broadway that I go to for various things as well (all accessible by walking or taking the 36 north). Are you looking for anything in particular (butchers, bakers, candlestick makers?), or more general grocery stores?

There is a CSA-type store near there, I'll look it up and get back to you.

Thanks everyone. I am particularly looking for grocery stores...or produce markets, places to buy staples, whether small or large. I also noticed there is a hardware store on the Clark near or on Winnemac which is also good. Seems to be good bus transportation on both Broadway and Clark....and there's always the Red Line too.

I went to the Jewel across from Edgewater Produce and found it good. I did not get a chance to go to EP yet but will do so soon. Thanks for the suggestions.
