I am planning on going to a brunch gathering in LS tomorrow. I might make something, but if I don't, my backup plan is to swing by the market. I have never been, and see there are a few bakery vendors on the list- anyone reccommmend any particular brunch-y items they have seen at the farmer's market? And do they sell out early? I am thinking rolls or muffins of some type.

    thanks!

Fonda del Mar has a stand at the market with some quite good tamales, and a little table at which to enjoy them. Pvovenance has a stand selling some nice cheeses.

Too bad it's not the first or third Sunday of the month or I'd suggest pulled pork from Galewood Cookshack

I went to the Logan Square farmers market last year, following brunch at Lula. My impressions were that it was quite small, many of the places featured organic produce, and it was priced quite high compared with other farmers markets and many grocery stores. I don't remember specifically whether they had anything much in the way of prepared baked goods.

If you don't find anything to your liking at the Farmer's Market, Roeser's Bakery is close by and is open Sunday 6am - 6pm.

There are definitely some food options - I think 3 stands were selling cooked foods.

Great new lamb purveyor is there too (leg/shoulder/shank, more interestingly, chorizo, brats and breakfast sausage), and a chicken/egg guy. It's much better this year than last...

While it's nice to have a farmer's market 1/2 a block from home, options are still pretty limited (especially compared with Green City, our usual Saturday stop).

The new lamb purveyor, Mint Creek Farms, is wonderful, though. Really friendly folks and great lamb. The puppy is even hooked on the lamb - - they'll sell you a bag of soup bones for a buck or two. They were generous enough to give us the first big bag for free, and now we always have some bones for the pup in the freezer.
