Can anyone recommend a good, non-dripping olive oil decanter? My wife and I long since graduated to buying olive oil in 2-liter carboys at Lincolnwood Grocery, but for lack of anything better we still keep the ready supply in a old olive oil bottle. It drips everywhere, leaves rings of oil on the table, has to be kept in a saucer, is goopy to pick up. Any suggestions?

I use old wine bottles for my oils, with corks that have dripless pour spouts.

I bought a $6 bottle at bed, bath, and beyond, and fill it from a 2L can of olive oil from caputo's. The neck on the bottle is wide enough that you don't need to use a funnel, and it has a good, dripless spout. Very neat and clean.

i have no suggestions for decanters, though.

At any given time, I typically have three to five small to medium sized bottles of olive oil around for various purposes, and consequently I don't buy large quantities in the cans and so haven't needed a decanter. About a month ago, however, I came across a really beautiful jug with extra virgin olive oil that I just couldn't resist, even at the somewhat steep price of $20. The brand is Caroli, a very nice oil from Martina Franca in Puglia. The jug is nicely decorated with painted images of twigs bearing olives and leaves and I will have to figure out some way to work it into my habits of olive oil storage and consumption.

This Caroli product is, I believe, still available at the shop where I purchased it, namely Conte di Savoia, the outstanding salumeria in the Taylor Street - East neighbourhood (located on the north side of Taylor, between Bishop and Laflin, a couple of blocks east of Ashland).
