Is there any place in Chicago to buy German Knorr Soup Packets, such as these? http://www.germandeli.com/knslgrsu.html

I had some at home during the holidays and they were suprisingly good for packaged soup. I've looked at numerous Polish Delis and went to A&G Market today, but no one seems to have these soups.

I am hoping to not need to order them online.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I have seen Knorr soup products at Bobak's, though the instructions tend to be in Polish. However you can pick up hints from checking the rear for the quantity of water required.

I have seen Knorr products at Asian stores as well. However the soups you are likely to be desiring will be at European-ethnic stores rather than Asian.

I've seen them at Alpenrose in Carpentersville, Caputos in Algonquin, and probably Woodmans also in Carpentersville.

BTW, I recently ordered a bunch of goodies from germandeli.com and their service is FANTASTIC!

Woodman's carries a good selection of Knorr Swiss porducts in Carpentersville. You will find them in the international food aisle.

One item that I have never seen sold at retail is the Knorr Swiss demi glace which is one of the better ones that I have tried.

Did you try Bende's on Roosevelt Rd. in Glen Ellyn?? Don't know if they have them but they might.

Try Alpine Deli in Villa Park. When the Heidelberg restaurant and deli in Elmhurst closed, the owners moved the deli operations here.

Valli Produce in Arlington Heights, Hoffman Estates and Glendale Heights generally have Knorr's soup and sauce mixes on the shelf.

I've had really good luck online with Germany's Best. Some of their stuff ships from the US. They've got an incredible range of stuff, both food and non-food: http://www.germanysbest.com/

Pretty sure they are at Lincoln Quality Meats in Lincoln Square. They started adding more German items to their selection ever since Meyer's closed.

The Mundelein Garden Fresh Market has a large selection of Knorr soups. I will take a closer look next time I'm there to see if any of these German varieties are available.

I've seen some Knorr soups at Andy's Fruit Ranch on Kedzie in Albany Park. I think they're polish though, not German. They also make a delish mint and yogurt soup FYI!

Alpine deli in Villa Park closed this fall. Bende on Roosevelt in Geln Ellyn definitely has Knorr products

I have a friend from the UK living here who misses the above product. I've contacted the company but received no response. It's not listed on the U.S. website. Online it seems to be available from Asian groceries. Here is a link to what the product looks like.

Knorr Pork and Chinese Ham bouillon cubes *should* be available at any decent-sized Chinese market, or Asian market with a good-sized Chinese section. They're at many places in KC, and all the good Asian markets in Montréal have them.

Finally got a response back from Knorr customer service:

    "Hello Rick,

    Thanks for writing!

Apparently, customer service does not know their own product or some distributor has stocked up. Had plenty on the shelf at Fresh Farms today at $1.59 a package.

If you contacted US customer service, then the product is probably being shipped in outside of Knorr's normal distributor network, which happens a lot for products sold in ethnic markets brought in from overseas.

I think rickster is on this one. Some of the ham/pork/Chinese ham cubes are in fact made in Canada, not the US.
