Deborah Madison's soup cookbook

Does anyone else know and love "Vegetable Soups from Deborah Madison's Kitchen"? I made an unexciting white bean and kale soup from it, which I followed with a butternut squash soup that I not only drowned in sage but forgot on top of the stove all night.
Who's had better luck? Which recipes from it are can't-miss?
