A coworker has asked me for a source for lamb sausage, preferably in the western suburbs, but I am beginning to think geography will end up being beside the point.

So far we have tried the local Bobak's related outpost (Fresh Market), the high end butcher/grocery in Naperville (Casey's) and Greek Islands in Lombard. All of them not only do not have it, but have no idea where one might find it.

But I bet someone here does...

    Thanks in advance.

david, mint creek farms, a local illinois farm has fantastic and various lamb sausages. they sell at green city market and green grocers (1402 w. grand). well worth the trip, even if the lamb is frozen. hope this helps. justjoan

Not normally in stock, but, they make it on site. You just need to call several days ahead of time. The owners are super nice and will try and accomodate any reasonable request. They also have great spiach pies and decent avgolemono soup!!

My usual go to on this type of question is

    Ream's Elburn Market
    128 N. Main
    Elburn IL 60119

    630-365-6461
    reamsmarket@sbcglobal.net

    But, not now.

Ream's asked about what sort of lamb sausage. He say he has a great merquez recipe, but was not happy with the harissa available. I emailed him the recent thread.

He, of course, was interested in making a quantity for whomever had a lamb recipe they wanted.

Anybody have an andouilette recipe that tastes like the real stuff in France?

The WholePaycheck in KC usually has several types of lamb sausages. Might be that same way in Chicago.

I would LOVE to try some of his lamb merguez. If I find time to get additional details and get an order ready, I'll post so anyone else join.

Whenever I see reference to Andouillette I am reminded of Burke and Wells classic 2002 post Excremental Encounter

one time i bought a cut up lamb from a guy up in walworth county. as a freebie he threw in some cajun lamb sausage. the stuff knocked me out. could be the best sausage i have ever had. so i call him and say, "hey, can I come by and buy some of that cajun sausage?" He tells me no, he doesn't have any. He only gets his old ewes ground up for sausage as it is the only way to make them edible.

anyway, here's the contact info. it now says they have cajun bratwurst available.
