    Just ran across this article on the Smithsonian blog: The author writes of her newest addiction -- panko-coated fried asparagus with smoked tomato aioli. The photo alone sold me. The recipe she links to is just the closest she has found to what she had at a Maryland tapas bar, but I think that, with the photo, description, and related recipe, at least a few of us might consider this worth trying. (And, for those who get to the DC area, it's one more thing to search out in your travels.)

    Okay -- those look exactly like what you get at Joe's Stone Crab when you order their incredible Fried Asparagus. I was actually in there last week for pilgrimage and their asparagus was just delightful -- you can tell it's spring.

    Joe's serves theirs with a mustard sauce that's very good -- but I bet the aioli is great too.
