My son and I were making a birthday cake that was going to have extra batter
so I heated up the waffle iron and we made box cake waffles.

I'd say if you were in the mood and had 10 minutes to spare
    you could be eating cake...

    HI,

It certainly is an alternative to cup cakes. If you don't have a waffle maker, I would image using it as pancake batter, too.

Thank you for sharing this great idea.

    Very cool idea!

I know I have a waffle maker somewhere, daunting task finding it in the basement.

I made some of these last night with our Hello Kitty Waffle maker - just used the cocoa devil's food cake recipe out of Joy of Cooking.

I should have taken pictures, but I just ate the last one. I must say, it's a great alternative to turning on the oven when it's hot out. They came out perfectly.

Oooh, you've given me an idea. I bought a Mickey Mouse waffle maker some time ago and never used it. (Not sure if I wanted to give it as a gift or keep it for myself.) Might make a very cute birthday cake idea, mini Mickey cakes for each person!

Some of you may laugh or scoff, but that darned Hello Kitty waffle maker makes the perfect waffles.

And the perfect size for cupcake/waffles.

    HI,

I would never laugh at Hello Kitty. I bought some Hello Kitty socks for my nieces a few years ago. They did scoff and left them at my house. They were horrified when they saw me wear them. I wore them until they died an honorable death: holes in the toes.

No scoffing here. We have a Hello Kitty radio and a Sponge Bob digital camera in our house, so I know where you're coming from. :)
