I did a quick search and didn't find anything meeting my specific criteria... I'm trying to help a colleague find a one-time cooking class she can take with her 9-year-old son. They live in Evanston but are willing to travel into the city. Most important is that it's a one-time class; they aren't able to participate in a series.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

My part district offers one session classes. The classes do seem weighted towards baking, though. Perhaps Evanston has something similar?

The Chopping Block has several, but they aren't until August, search Kids on their calendar search. For instance, there is this one.

Now We're Cookin' has some in August.

Thanks to you both. I think my co-worker checked Evanston Park District and didn't see anything that fit. I think she also looked at the Chopping Block and Now We're Cookin' classes, but those seem to be for kids only, sans adults?

That's possible - it didn't really specify. There's a mom-tot class at Chopping Block, but it's for kids up to 7 years old.

The Kids' Table has a family night where you cook with kids. [http://www.kids-table.com/] It looks like they offer it every other Friday in August. We did one last year with our then 4 year old and had a great time. Parking is a little difficult, but it is a nice walk from the Blue Line.
