Last week,
Monica Eng mentioned the Ethiopian snack kolo is available at Kukulu, the little grocery store in Edgewater. This sounds like my sort of snack so off I went.

Barley and chick peas, very toasty and crunchy, only lightly salted and spiced, addictive. Lovers of unpopped popcorn kernels ought to go for this too. Kukulu carries unspiced kolo too as well as dabo kolo. This other Ethiopian snack is made from wheat flour with plenty of fat and somewhat resembles macadamia nuts in both appearance and texture. It disappeared too fast for a photo. Kukulu is a great little shop stuffed with spices, books, freshly made niter kibbeh, berbere, and an impressive selection of injera.
