Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but Lidia has an incredible recipe for "delizie al limone"" which is a pretty elaborate combination of sponge cake, lemon flavored pastry cream, lemon syrup, limoncello sauce, and fondant. I like to use Meyer lemons for it.
It can be found on page 374 of "Lidia's Italian American Kitchen". This is the only thing I've ever made that comes close to your description.
