I think I saw some at Whole Foods in the bakery section when I went there yesterday. I have not tried it. They also probably have the Walkers brand too where they keep the cookies.

You could give Vanille Patisserie or Delightful Pastries a call. If either of them have shortbread, you can bet that it'll be great stuff.

I don't know why these things are so addicitve. But, Trader Joe's sells a shortbread cookie with a little dollop of chocolate in the middle. They are butter and chocolatey like one would expect a great homemade shortbread to be.

It starts off so innocently. I have one. Then another. Maybe just one more...and in two hours, the whole platic tub of them is gone.

They're not gift variety cookies. But, boy are they incrediblly good.

On another note, the Whole Foods off of North Avenue in Lincoln Park sells some rerally beautiful and delicious varieties of shortbread, too.

I just can't stand paying $12 for a box of 8 Walker Brothers Cookies.

This time of year, places like World Market are selling them at 50%+ off.

I was gifted very good shortbread from Floriole a few years ago, but the cafe will be closed until January 14. I don't know their Green City Market situation. Also, I may have seen their shortbread (or someone else's) at the Downtown Farmstand.

Also check Costco. Around Thanksgiving, they had giant tins (1-foot cubes, if I recall) of Walker Brothers shortbread on hand. I don't remember for sure, but I want to say they cost $38 each.
