Today on the coldest day of the year, I decided to make Sangria. I needed something different to drink and had the ingredients on hand. Since I had no one here to drink the Sangria, I made it on a small scale. I offer this as a way to make Sangria for only a couple people. Most recipes make way too much for me so this works well. It helps to have all ingredients cold and refrigerated before making.

In a glass pitcher or wine carafe put:

2 very small bottles of wine (the kind that each hold about a scant cup of wine and can be purchased at many grocery stores. I used Gallo Pinot Noir.)
one half to one cup of Blackberry wine- I used the kosher kind which is sweet so no sugar is really needed for the sangria
One lemon, one lime, one orange and one apple. Cut the lemon, orange and lime in half and juice a half of each fruit and put juice in carafe with wine. Cut up the other half of each fruit as well as the apple in small chunks and put in sangria mixture.

Chill mixture in refrigerator for an hour or two. When ready to serve, place one or two ice cubes in wine glass (optional). Pour sangria to about halfway level in the glass. Pour Fresca in the glass to fill to top. Be sure to include several chunks of fruit. Yum. Very good and a beautiful red color. I stored the left over Sangria in the fridge and I will finish tomorrow. I added the Fresca because my hairdresser who is from Barcelona told me they put Fresca or a similar lemon type soda in Sangria there and its good.

    Sounds tasty.
Squirt makes a nice bubbly addition as well as Fresca.
I also made some this past summer using a Mango/Guava/Orange Juice,
and that adding a nice sour/sweet element to the Sangria.

Funny- how similar "gluug" and Sangria are- just opposite seasonally/temperature wise!

That sounds good. I'd like to put in mango or peach chunks too. I think you can put grapes, pineapple or whatever. I do need to cut down on sugar so I need to use sugar free type soda. Its a tasty drink and will provide a hit of anti oxidants.

Had a weird sangria the other day at a reception sponsored by Hypnotiq. Blue sangria.

White wine, sparkling water, Hypnotiq, chunks of apples, whole blueberries, blackberries.
Pale blue, looked like windshield washer fluid. Tasted ok.
    Leek
