listeria outbreak in cantaloupe

NPR is where i heard today about a new outbreak of listeria found in colorado cantaloupes, shipped all over the country:

And cantaloupes (with no stickers of provenance) were on sale at Jewel. Hard not to cast a gimlet eye on that.

This has been an issue for several weeks now.I bought 4 cantaloupes about 3 or 4 weeks ago from a major grocery chain I frequent. I think they were 59 or 69c each. Didn't think twice about it at the time, really, since their prices generally rock for in season produce. About a week later, I noticed that almost all other grocery stores I check had cantaloupes on sale for dirt cheap. While shopping at one of those stores, I was thinking about buying a few more, when I noticed the warning signs on the FULL bins of cantaloupes to notify consumers of the outbreak.

I just bought some cantaloupe from my neighborhood Jewel last night. Since I saw this thread, I called up the Jewel and asked them about the origin of their cantaloupes. The person at customer service said that their cantaloupe was previously from Oregon, but they switched to cantaloupes from California.
