Many decades ago as a kid, I ran away to Texas. All the other kids were running away to California, I was such a screwed-up kid, I ended up in Texas. Anyhow, We lived off G-rations (beans, flour, bacon rice, powdered milk, oatmeal, peanut butter and cheese). There was a kind of thick gravy we ate with almost every meal made with bacon drippings, powdered milk, flour and pepper (I think). It was poured over Chicken Fried Steak( on special occasions), or more often rice. Everybody called it Jerk Lip. I have never heard this name since, and wonder if it was peculiar to the part of Texas I was in (or maybe they were just making fun of the Yankee kid). Has anyone else heard of this delicacy? Moreover, can you make it?
