    I'd call these guys.

I'm interested in this answer too -- I usually make a day trip to Madison and go to The Vanilla Bean. I'm pretty sure that Merckens is their "house brand" of candy melts.

These guys are probably cheaper than you can find anywhere, even with the added cost of 2-day shipping:

does it have to be merckens? if not, blommers chocolate, at the corner of kinzie and milwaukee has a large array of compound coatings. check their website or call their retail store.

Interesting, justjoan. Thank you! Has anyone used Blommer's coating before? What are your thoughts and experience on the product?

I have mainly used Wilton melts in the past and am not impressed. Lately I started using Candiquik which is available at my local Target. I am happier with Candiquik but am always looking for better options.

sorry, i dont use compound coatings at all. but at the blommer retail store you can buy as little as you want, and try them at home, as it's bulk shopping. (some things are prepackaged in plastic bags, but you can ask for any amount and they'll bag it for you.)
