    Hi there,

I just moved back to Chicago from England and was hoping to find a place to purchase rapeseed oil. I cooked with it a lot in the UK and it was pretty easy to come by. Now that I am back home, I am hoping to still use the product.
Considering it is a first cold press of canola oil, the raw product is definitely available.

Does anyone know of any US suppliers/producers? Or know of any companies that export from overseas?

    Thank you.

Rapeseed oil is called canola oil in the US (and some other places).

Very familiar with canola and, yes, you are absolutely right. I guess what I am looking for is first cold pressed oil of this origin. There is a big difference in flavor/quality between first cold pressed and what is traditionally sold as canola oil.

Expeller pressed (cold pressed) canola oil is pretty readily available. Try Whole Foods.

    BoboUK, welcome to LTH!

We don't have the high quality, artisanal, cold pressed rapeseed oil widely available that the UK currently has. This trend has not become popular in the States yet, sorry. Maybe someone else knows of a source here, but I don't, if I come across it I'll post

I think that part of the lack of availability are the internet rumors that rapeseed oil is highly toxic.

Thanks for the responses. I've met a few of the producers at some of the food markets in London and discussed importing to the US. I'm sure it will be expensive to do, but worth asking.

Will post if I find some more info.

    Cheers

This appears to be a popular variety (at least by Amazon reviews) - but it's out of stock at the moment:
