I'm having a graduation party next week and I am looking for a source for a whole roast pig. (I just don't feel like digging a pit in the yard right now). I was wondering if anyone had a source for this. Thanks.

    Hi,

I know these three places do whole pig:

    Captain Porky's
    39210 North Sheridan Road
    Beach Park, IL 60099
    847-872-4460

    Sun Wah BBQ (Chinese)
    1134 W. Argyle
    773-769-1254
Close to the Argyle Red Line stop.

    T&C Meat Market (Greek-Puerto Rican)
    2812 West North Avenue
    Chicago 60647
    773/276-2220
    (T&C also does whole lamb)

You could also consult this thread on BBQ Caterers.

Do report back on what you did and how it came out.

    Regards,

There's a filipino place off of Belmont more towards Harlem. I forgot the name of it and I can't believe its escaping me because I usually know it! Argh! But we used to have family parties and would order a whole roasted pig, or lechon in tagalog, and it would be enough for everyone to pick off of. They make other stuff like chicarron and what not. Argh it bothers me that I can't remember the name or readily find it online!

It would look something like this cut up...

Unfortunately the soiree has been canceled due to a failure in physics which will post pone festivities (at a reduced level) until the end of the summer school season. No diploma, no pig.
