Our family has signed up for a CSA produce box delivery for this summer. The Wisconsin farm, East Slope Farm, needs a certain number of subscribers in order to do an Illinois drop-off point, Friday deliveries, every two weeks, dropping off at a house on Dupee Street in Wilmette right over the Evanston border.

Would anyone have an interest in this? A few more subscribers would put this over the top.
East Slope Farm is run by a hard-working young couple, Anne and Brian. They are working towards their organic certification so everything that is grown adheres to organic practices in all areas of production. The farm has had a CSA program for several years with drop-off points in Wisconsin. http://eastslopefarm.com/csa-info.html They also do some Wisconsin farmers' markets.

Click here and take a look at pics of some of the CSA boxes delivered last year: http://eastslopefarm.com/pics.html

Hope you can join us so we can all enjoy this bounty!

    Thanks very much!

Joy did a great job summarizing our CSA. I will be in Wilmette at our CSA pick up location (210 Dupee Pl.) this Sunday 4/27 1-3pm. I will just be setting up a table in the driveway with pictures and literature. This will be a great opportunity for people interested in CSA to come and sign up and/or find out more about our CSA. Please feel free to pass on the word. We are a small farm still trying to get our name out in the Chicago area.

    Thanks,
    Anne

The East Slope Farm CSA program is on! They have met and surpassed their minimum number for the Wilmette pick-up point. Thanks to everyone that signed up.

This plan is especially good and convenient for our family because we have difficulty carving time for the Evanston Farmer's market out of our Saturday morning summer schedules. With East Slope's Friday afternoon drop-off time, our high-quality veggies are secure and Saturday mornings free. ;-)

They are still accepting enrollees so if you are motivated, go to their website and sign up.

On their website, they have posted that the first box is likely to be sent week of June 5. They have posted an "Estimate of What to Expect" as follows:

East Slope Farm is having a "Spring Open House" on Saturday, May 17th. If you are in the area, why not stop by and have a slice of pizza from their wood-fired oven? Here is what they say:

Here are more details about our May 17th event. We will be starting around 2pm. We will be doing a farm tour, presentation, and answering any questions about the CSA & farm. We will finish off the day with some pizzas that we will cook up in our wood fired pizza oven. We will be making simple pizzas with organic ingredients: cheese, tomato sauce, pesto sauce, garlic, shallots. You will have the opportunity to customize a pizza. Please feel free to bring extra ingredients if you are interested. We will be asking for a donation to cover the cost of the basic pizza.

Please bring an outdoor chair, as we’re a little short on chairs.
And please RSVP if you are able to make it. If not, don’t worry about RSVPing.
