I'm trying to build Alton Brown's smoker rig from Q, and would like to make a rib roast like his someday as well.

But I need to find a nice bowl-shaped piece of terra cotta, large enough to cover a rib roast of pork shoulder or what-not.

Know of anyplace? I really have no clue. Platt Hill Nursery who has a GREAT selection of plants has a lousy unglazed terra cotta selection.

Home Depot, Lowes, Ace not cutting it either....

    Thanks!

I went through the same process two summers ago and while Home Depot worked for the bottom of the Alton smoker, I wanted a big, stable top that eluded me for a while. I ended up successfully at Pasquesi out past Barrington on the Northwest Highway (tho' I see they also have a place in Lake Forest).

I'm generally happy with my results, but still have to find the perfect hotplate and an easy means of adjusting the temp.

    Good luck!
