After having some delicious, low-cholesterol alpaca dishes in Peru, I'd like to do so again.
Since Czimer's is closed, are there any other Chicago-area places that will stock, or special order alpaca? I've looked into mail order, but the shipping runs from about the price of the meat to double so, and the meat isn't cheap ($8 for ground, up to $20 or more for roasts).

    Hi,

I have a friend who owns a herd of alpaca's around Kankakee. She was inspired by a lecture at the University of Illinois. They are her fur babies and I know she does not eat them.

There are other alpaca herds in the region. You may want to call to find out who among them is selling meat.

I would contact the University of Illinois, too, since they would know who is doing what.

    Regards,
