I was poking around the internet at my favorite auction sites and noted that Quig's Apple Orchard is having a liquidation auction on or around November 5th.

    Is the place still operating??

I thought I'd heard something about this.
Google yielded this article from the Northwest Herald:
    http://www.nwherald.com/print/282829637409704.php

    Highlights:
Alan Quig, whose father and grandfather started Quig's Orchard in 1947, said the new owners of the 19-acre property in Mundelein would turn the orchard into a new subdivision after next fall's picking season.
    and
There is just one other orchard in Lake County – Ziegler's Orchard near Grayslake – where people can pick their own apples, according to the Lake County Farm Bureau
    and
Most of the orchard will be covered by homes, but the new owners intend to keep a restaurant and bakery on the grounds open

    Hi,

Passed Quig's this evening to find they have now given up the ghost on the retail operation on 83. There was also a sign advertising apple wood firewood.

    Regards,
