We are holding a memorial service for my father-in-law in a couple of weeks, and it currently seems to be mushrooming into a full-on family reunion. Because my household is the most centrally located (and people are coming from all over the country), we are hosting. I thought we might have 30 or 40 people, but we are now at almost 70 RSVPs, which is more than I can handle all by myself. If you wanted someone to prep platters of raw veggies, cut-up fruit, cheese, etc. that didn't break the bank, but wanted to be able to just swing by and pick them up on a Saturday morning more or less on the way from Albany Park to Wilmette, where would you go?

It doesn't need to be anything fancy, but it would be too much to fit in our fridge or prep ourselves at the last minute, or I'd just buy the raw materials and do it myself. (And I still might if it looks cool enough outside the day before that I could leave it on our back porch overnight.)

Maybe Fresh Farms? I'm guessing they'll do this for you at a reasonable price, and they're not too far off the Edens. Like I said, just a guess, though.

That had been my first thought, but I was having nightmares about schlepping out there with husband, elderly mother-in-law, plus 3 cases of booze, 3 cases of other beverages, tableware for 70, and other assorted family memorabilia in our Nissan Juke and then running the Costco gauntlet on a Saturday late morning. But hallelujah, my sister-in-law has saved the day! She will send her AirBnB checkin info so I can go to Costco the day before and then stash everything in their nice, empty fridge.
