    Hi all,

First post on this forum, so forgive me if I've messed anything up. I've recently moved to Chicago (Lakeview) and am missing my old market where I could buy cheap chicken backs to use for stock. Does anyone know of a grocer/butcher who sells them? I haven't found anything at Jewel/Mariano's/WF, but I may have not looked hard enough.

    Thanks!

Someone get ramenover into this thread. Dude has to be one of the top non-commercial chicken back buyers in the midwest.

Most Cermak supermarkets have chicken backs or really any chicken part you could want.

The Lakeview Whole Foods has consistently had them whenever I've needed them. Not sure if that's where you went.

    Hi,

The back happens to be my favorite part of chicken. I like the skin to meat ratio, especially when crisped.

What do you normally pay for chicken backs?

In Barberton, OH, White House Chicken has Serb-style fried chicken. You may select chicken backs from the menu, though they cut them up the middle. Still anyplace featuring chicken backs has my keen interest, if not support.

Thank you for such an interesting inquiry.

    Regards,

Cermak supermarkets is a good suggestion. If you have car, Fresh Farms on Toughy always has backs, as well as feet, and all kinds of other off cuts you could possibly want for stocks.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Did some Yelping today and gave Paulina Meat Market a call. They sell backs in 5 lb bags for $2/lb, though that's definitely pricey compared to what I'm used to. But I'm happy to support a local small biz and they're close by.
