Has anyone ever been to Ba Ba Reeba for paella lessons? It looks like they have these things once a month. For $35, you get the lesson, cook book, lunch, and paired wines.

We're genuinely interested in learning how to make paella after a couple of botched attempts.

I'd suggest saving your time and money on this class.

If it's anything like it was when we went about a year ago, the class is packed, it's all demo, and you don't learn much. They provide a pamphlet with recipes and try to sell their "paella kits". We didn't know it going in, but they also provide a multi-course meal with the paella as the main. None of the dishes that day were very good. Perhaps it was a funky experience for us, as I've since been to Cafe Babareeba and had pretty decent paella (amongst other things).

But if you're really interested in making paella, I'd recommend buying Penelope Casas' book and then stuffing yourself silly at Cafe Iberico with your savings.

    Good luck,
    Zee

I've generally enjoyed my meals at Babareeba more than others here, but, that said, the once or twice I had the paella, it was the most boring of the dishes I'd had there.

I never went to a class there, but I did attend a wine event (Spanish sparklers). While none of the wines were knock-outs, the event was informative and well done.

    FWIW.

I wondered if it was something like you described. They said "recipe book" and I immediately thought "it's probably something printed out of Word".
