    Hello everyone,

Just wondering if someone can help me locate a place that supplies purse hooks that can be permently screwed up under the bar and tables of the restaurant. The ones that I am referring to do not get in the way of the guest, and they would not know they were there unless someone told them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Cheers!

I'd suggest going to your local Home Depot and browsing the hardware aisle. I'm sure you will find something that could work.

One solution could be just generic hooks like you'd use for plants or a lamp swag or hanging something on the back of a closet door. Those you can find at any hardware store for not too much money :)

Here is a local source: Royal Industries

Let me just say that this is a great amenity and I hope more restaurants and bars (especially bars) adopt it. I hate sitting on a barstool and having either to hold my purse on my lap or put it on the floor out of reach.

While I'm on the subject, when will public-restroom designers figure out that you need somewhere dry to put your purse when you wash your hands? So many new restaurants have fancy sinks with no counters or sinks made so that the counters are constantly wet.

My only counter(cough)point to this is please be aware of patrons whose knees may be higher than average. Nothing like a piece of hardware gouging your patella to ruin a good meal.

When I have seen these in use they are set to the side. You wouldn't want the purse to hang down where it bangs into the patron's legs, either.

The last place I saw this, they had them between every other stool at the bar. The hooks are placed with the open end in line with the bar counter, so the purse hangs perpendicular to the bar.

    Sorry for the fuzzy picture

These seem to hold a great deal of weight, judging by their various displays.

I took a picture of the back of the package in case the OP wanted to order these from their manufacturer.

Those are the kind that ladies are meant to carry with them to hang their purses anywhere.

While I appreciate purse hooks when I find them installed, the idea of carrying my own seems ... I dunno, like carrying one of those fold-up plastic rain bonnets. Anyway, I'd probably lose it.

Funny, you compare these to the plastic rain bonnet, as my grandmother carries both (as well as a metallic gold "bib"...how much fun is it to go out to dinner with her? )

The other problem with those hooks is that they slide off the table really easily- all it takes is one little bump or even just a really heavy purse, and they fall off anyway.

I'd love it if more restaurants put well-positioned hooks under the table!

Well it seems, based on the responses from actual purse hook users, that my original suggestion of The Home Depot was probably the corrrect one.
