In this week’s Chicago Reader, you can read The Whole Hog Project , Mike Sula’s epic quest to go face-to-face with the meat we eat, a thoughtful and powerful piece of journalism, excellent in concept and execution.

Perhaps you’ve seen There Will Be Pork, Part 1 , Mike Gebert’s best-ever Sky Full of Bacon podcast which introduces the words and image of Valerie Rock, cigar-smoking piggy protectoress, who with her husband Mike is working to bring the heritage Mulefoot hog back into the food chain.

Yesterday, Valerie emailed to update me on plans to harvest Ermine, Our Pig , daughter of Mike Sula's Dee Dee. Valerie mentioned that she has some other piggies she’d be glad to offer the members of LTHForum. She is still working out pricing, but she’s been fair with us, so if you’re interested in sampling some mulefoot meat, please contact her directly at:
