Does it need to be refrigerated?
    How long does it keep?

No, it does not need to be refrigerated. It keeps for about a year.

Lily, I'd like to pick up an bag or two. I see you're in Mount Prospect, and I could order off your site, but do you sell to any grocery stores in the area?

    Hi David,
Unfortunately, we are not in any stores yet! But we are working very hard to get into stores in Chicago.
I understand that shipping costs make it inconvenient to order in the Chicago-area. We're working on a Chicago-area only free shipping promotion. We should be etching out the details in a day or two. I will let you know!

While LeChoi works on getting black garlic in to stores in town, you might want to check out the Whole Foods at 3300 N. Ashland. There was a previous thread about black garlic where I had mentioned seeing it there, and the poster (bon2mic) said he/she was able to find it there, though it was quite a while ago.

Here are some promotions for Chicago:

We couldn't do free shipping, but you can get $1.00 off each individual pouch you order.

Lilly is sending us a sample. If we are happy with them, that store that might carry them may be The Spice House. I tasted some that we had ordered online yesterday, and I think they should be flying out of the shop, really delicious. Would certainly prefer to do business with a local company. Stay tuned.

My new Cooks Illustrated that arrived today called this garlic "The New Black" so it should have a nice ride for at least a little while.

Yes, I would love to get into a local store. I agree that it is a bit unappealing to buy ingredients on-line! Hopefully it will be soon, we will definitely keep you posted!

Our black garlic sells for $4.99 per package. There are two full bulbs in each package, really nice flavor to them. Since we started selling it a few short weeks ago, we have gone through 20 cases.

Has anyone been cooking with black garlic? How havbe you been using it? I picked some up at The Spice House yesterday & I'm looking forward to trying it out. I was wondering if anyone had any particularly good applications for it. Thanks.
